WGSHA,the Welcome Group School of Hotel Administration situated in the manipal university campus organized their annual inter college competition for hotel management colleges across the country. The competition goes by the name of Wgsha Quest 2019. Being overall Runners up from last year, we were in the pursuit of the Overall Championship.

The Rostrum was set for students of the top colleges in India to be adjudged. Front office situation handling, quiz, bar tending skills and table laying, treasure hunt across the Manipal University campus, culinary competitions, Food Photography, Tourism Video making ,dance and dramatics. Wgsha Quest2019, tested each students capabilities to the limit, both intellectual and physical. The team chosen to represent our college this year for the events were Priya Bothra , Pooja Reddy, B. Karthik, Ojus Rane, Ch.Abhinay, R.V.P. Vishnu, Vikrant Sablok, Anuj Kumar, Yohann d’souza, Ajay kumar, Touseef Shamshuddin.

The culinary competitions had events such as Mithas which is a Indian confectionery(halwai) competition for which a very innovative dish was made Tridev which was a marriage of the famous Kaju katli, Rasgulla, and Rabdi ,Painted Platter which was a plated dessert competition for both of which we received Silver Medal.Entre which was a main course mystery box challenge round where Banana stem was the mystery ingredient, participants were commended for their plating and product knowledge.

 The globetrotter competition was a short film making competition where the students were required to make a tourism video on their city of origin and the Udupi Temple Area as the second location.We bagged the Bronze medal for this event. For Hoteliers got talent the theme was non thematic -beautiful and synchronized array of steps and formations left the judges and audience mesmerized and eventually winning Gold for the efforts. A silver medal in front office role play, Restaurant Service Skills saw our college awarded the overall 2nd runners up trophy at Quest 2019.

We arrived back lugubrious but with a lot of learning’s and advice for our juniors as to what it is to perform and give more than your very best at a National Level Competition.
