The Post Graduate Diploma in Culinary Arts (PGDCA) is an intensive course spread over one year. Being the first ever university affiliated Post Graduate Diploma in India, Brand CAI holds the course very dear and provides the course at an affordable fee while ensuring only the most advanced techniques and latest practices make it into the instructional hours. The PGDCA at Brand CAI focuses not only on the Indian culinary ecosystem, but also exposes students to a plethora of international cuisines. In this course, applicants are taught advanced food production techniques and industrial kitchen management. A huge emphasis is laid on futuristic foods and fine dining plating techniques, and we also include subjects such as molecular gastronomy, sous vide cooking, garde manger, ayurvedic and vegan diets in addition to advanced confectionery arts & artisanal breads. Our senior most faculty members with international exposure lead the students through the course, and once complete, students can be directly recruited by cruise companies within two months of completion.

Academic Authority:

The Post Graduate Diploma in Culinary Arts (PGDCA) is a one-year, full-time course offered under the Faculty of Technology, Osmania University, Hyderabad.


Eligibility Criteria

1.Academic Requirements:

All candidates applying for the PGDCA must be a holder of any one of the following certificates from any university recognized by Osmania University, Hyderabad:

a.Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology

b.Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Hotel/Hospitality (with a minimum of two years in Food Production instruction)

c.Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Hotel/Hospitality/Tourism streams (with a minimum of two years in Food Production instruction)

d.Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel Management

e.Bachelor of Arts Degree in Hospitality Management

f.Bachelor of Arts Degree in Culinary Arts

Candidates who are currently appearing for their final exams in the respective streams can also apply for the course in the upcoming academic year.

2.International Applicants:

Non Resident Indians (NRIs) and foreign national students should submit all relevant documents along with the course application. The process of admission for these students will be handled by the Dean of Foreign Affairs, Osmania University, Hyderabad.


Enrollment, Selection & Admission Process

1.Notification:

An admission notification is published in leading national dailies of the country, and on our online website. The notice is usually published in April/May at the end of each academic year. All interested candidates will have only till the deadlines mentioned in the notification to complete the enrollment process.

2.Application Form:

The application form for The Post Graduate Diploma in Culinary Arts can be availed directly at the Academy’s Administration Office. The application form has a fee of ₹1,000/- (One Thousand Indian Rupees Only) payable in cash or via a demand draft drawn in favour of Paragon Education Society, payable at Hyderabad.

3.Eligibility:

Please ensure candidates meet all the eligibility requirements mentioned.

4.Selection:

After all application forms are submitted, candidates that meet our entry criteria will be called for the selection interview. Date will be intimated as and when it is finalized.
The selection process includes an All India Entrance Examination, a group discussion round and an individual interview - all held at the Brand CAI premises in Hyderabad only.
Only 60 candidates will be enrolled each year in the month of June. We wish you all the best!

FAQ's

The All India Entrance Examination for Post Graduate Diploma in Culinary Arts will be held in the month of June every year. This exam will be held only at the Culinary Academy of India, Hyderabad. The final dates and time will be made available well in advance so candidates face no difficulty in booking their travel and lodging.

The Culinary Academy of India is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad & Approved by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education. After successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Culinary Arts by Osmania University.

Only 30 candidates will be part of the academic batch each year. All the quotas of reservations as underlined by the Government of India/Government of Andhra Pradesh will be strictly adhered to.

After applying by filling up the application form, candidates will be required to undergo a written test, a group discussion round and a personal interview. In addition to these three stages, candidates will also have to undergo a trade test, where they will be asked to make a 3-course continental menu.

All candidates should present themselves in a neat, formal dress code and uphold the strict grooming standards demanded by our industry.
We recommend wearing a light colored shirt, dark trousers, a matching tie and black oxford shoes for male candidates; and a formal salwar kameez or saree for female applicants.
For the trade test, please carry your chef coat, chef trousers (Black/White or Black and white chequered) and your chef tool kit.

The written test will be a 50 marks objective type/multiple choice questionnaire covering culinary & food production related topics.

Topics for the group discussion will be given 1 hour in advance and the senior students of the academy will do a presentation for the candidates attending a group discussion for the first time.

The Culinary Academy of India charges Rs. 45,000 per annum as the university prescribed tuition fee. Students will also be charged separately for uniforms, journals & records,tool kits, carving kit, study material and journals.A daily working lunch will also be provided at the college. The final and total figure for the complete academic year will be provided along with the application form.
